Pick Exactly the Frames You Need
Select a range, every Nth frame from any starting frame, or tick frames by hand. The count updates as you go.
Three Export Formats
Download the picked frames as PNG files in a ZIP, as one sprite sheet strip or grid, or as a shorter GIF.
Timing and Transparency Kept
The GIF keeps each frame its original delay, and every format keeps transparent pixels transparent.
How to Export Frames from a GIF
1. Upload a GIF or APNG
Every frame is decoded in your browser and shown in a grid with its number and delay.
2. Pick the frames
Type a range, take every second or third frame, or tick frames one by one. All frames start selected.
3. Choose the format and download
Export PNG files, a sprite sheet or a GIF of just those frames, or open them as an animation in Novaboard.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from Split GIF into Frames?
Split GIF into Frames saves every frame of a GIF as PNG in one ZIP. This tool lets you choose which frames to keep and export them as PNGs, a sprite sheet or a new GIF. To look through a GIF and save a single frame, use the GIF Frame Viewer.
How do I export every other frame?
Set Every Nth frame to 2 and the starting frame to 1, then press Select every Nth. Frames 1, 3, 5 and so on are selected. Start from 2 to get the even frames instead.
Can I cut a GIF down to a few frames?
Yes. Select the frames you want to keep, choose GIF and download. The new GIF loops forever and every frame keeps the delay it had in the original, so the timing stays the same.
Does it keep transparency?
Yes. PNG files and the sprite sheet keep full transparency, and sheet padding is transparent. In the GIF, fully transparent pixels stay transparent; GIF has no partial transparency, so pixels under 50% opacity become clear.
Does it work with APNG?
Yes. Upload an animated PNG and its frames are decoded the same way as a GIF, with each frame fully drawn and its delay kept.
Is it free? Is my file uploaded?
It is free with no signup and no watermark. The file is decoded and exported in your browser and never sent to a server.
