Frequently Asked Questions
How do I view a GIF frame by frame?
Upload the GIF, then use the ◀ and ▶ buttons, the slider, or the left/right arrow keys to step through frames one at a time. Press space to play and pause at the GIF's real timing. Everything runs in your browser.
Can I save a single frame from the GIF?
Yes — step to the frame you want and click "Download Frame" to save it as a PNG. To export all frames at once as a ZIP, use the Split GIF into Frames tool instead.
Why does playback speed differ from what I expected?
Each GIF frame carries its own delay, and browsers bump very short delays (under ~20ms) up to 100ms. This viewer shows the stored delay for every frame and plays back the way browsers actually render it.
Does it work with animated PNGs?
Yes, APNG files step and play exactly like GIFs, with full 24-bit color and alpha.
