Frequently Asked Questions

Does it count transparent pixels?

Yes. Fully transparent pixels (alpha=0) are counted as a separate color. Two pixels with the same RGB but different alpha values are counted as different colors.

What is this useful for?

Checking if your sprite fits a palette constraint (e.g., 16 colors for retro consoles), finding stray colors from accidental edits, or analyzing color usage in artwork.

Can I use the extracted colors as a palette?

Yes! Click Download Palette to get a GIMP palette (.gpl) file, or Open in Novaboard to use the image in the editor where you can extract its palette.
