Frequently Asked Questions
What is TGA?
TGA (Targa) is a raster image format developed by Truevision. It's common in 3D graphics, game engines, and texture pipelines because it's simple and supports transparency.
Is the output compressed?
Yes. RLE (run-length encoding) is used by default. The compression is lossless: identical pixels are folded into runs without changing any colours.
Are there any size limits?
Yes. Images larger than 4096×4096 pixels are rejected to keep encoding responsive in the browser.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
